The top of this exquisite statement piece side table displays an exploding clock carved into solid Zebrawood and filled with brass epoxy and white marble epoxy mixtures. The sculpted pedestal showcases a Roman column draped by a cloak which flows into the base and onto the floor. Sold as a pair. The best interpretation of any art is the one bestowed upon it by the viewer. Every discerning art aficionado will have differing views and interpretations of any given piece based on our experiences and knowledge yet when examining art we all try to connect with the work and to some extent see and feel it through the lens of the artist as well as our own. My interpretation and intended meaning of this piece is the duality of family and work and the importance of finding the proper balance between both. On one side of the scale, we all strive to spend quality time with our families, to be present to witness our children grow and to raise them to see and experience the world the way we wish for them to. On the opposite side of the scale, we want to make a lasting mark in our world. We yearn to leave behind something that will transcend us and stay in this world long after we are gone. A legacy that will secure the future of our descendants as well as strengthen and inspire them. To solidify the foundation that will allow them to build higher than we could ever possibly fathom. This piece represents my vision of how to achieve equilibrium. The Roman column is something that has passed the test of time and represents the lasting power of the Roman Empire. It is the legacy. The cloak represents protection over the family as well as the importance of keeping it tightly woven and united. It is the sacred bond of family. Balancing legacy and family by working on building that very legacy as a family is the key to achieving equilibrium, at which point the reaction carved upon the top takes place. The clock explodes. Time becomes of no importance and simply drifts away as meaning and purpose take their rightful place. That is what the Symphony of Legacy stands for in my eyes.
